Junior Chamber International (JCI) is a non-profit international non-governmental organization of young people. It has members in about 124 countries, and regional or national organizations in many of them. It has consultative status with the Council of Europe, with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and with UNESCO. It was founded in St Louis in 1915. It encourages young people to become responsible citizens and to participate in efforts towards social and economic development, and international co-operation, good-will and understanding. Its members are called Jaycees (from JC's).
The Cedar Rapids chapter, founded in 1933, of the Iowa Junior Chamber is a community-based leadership training organization for men and women age 21-40. The Iowa Junior Chamber of Commerce is affiliated with the United States Junior Chamber, which is affiliated with Junior Chamber International.
Through serving the Cedar Rapids area in a variety of projects and programs, young people have the opportunity to develop their leadership and business skills. The Chapter also provides many oppurtunities to have fun, socialize, and network.
We are the organization of choice for young men and women who want the best opportunities for leadership development, volunteerism and community service.The Cedar Rapids Junior Chamber of Commerce (commonly referred to as the Cedar Rapids Jaycees) meet twice every month, at our building located at 225 5th Ave SW, Cedar Rapids, IA.
